FAQ
Q: I've never worked with UC Printing before. Where do I begin?
A: Get your project together. Determine what you want and how many of the printed pieces you'll need. If it's a brochure, be sure you have enough copy and art to make it look good. Remember, white space is a good thing -- don't write too much! Once you have an idea of what you want, your budget and how many printed pieces you'll need, give us a call at (510) 594-7746 or shoot an e-mail to info.ucprinting@berkeley.edu
Q: What do you mean, "No Sales Tax"? I've never heard of such a thing!
A: It's true. Because we print only for UCs and government agencies we do not have to charge sales tax.
Q: I know what I want but I don't know where to start. Can you help?
A: Yes. In this case, a good first step is to send us an e-mail or call with the details of your project and what you hope to accomplish. We are on campus at Cal every day, and available via phone or e-mail to the other UCs and government agencies as well. We are always accessible to talk about your printing needs.
Q: I have my design partially finished for a project, but then the artist, who I hired off of Craigslist, quit. What should I do?
A: Call us! Or e-mail! We can take over your project at any stage. Be sure to get any and all files you can from the artist, then we can go over everything and help you complete the project.
Q: I am not sure if my job should be copied or put on a printing press. How can I tell?
A: The copying of materials has progressed to such a high degree of quality that it is often more affordable to have your document copied instead of printed. Let us take a look at it and we will tell you the most cost-effective way to get the highest-quality result.
Q: I need 5,000 brochures printed by the end of next week. Can you help?
A: Usually we can. If the art is ready to go we can get a job on the press within a matter of hours. Call us and we'll help you out!
